Scientific Director - Professor O.I. Mitchenko

Department of dyslipidaemia
The department was founded in 2003.
The basic direction of scientific work is the study of features of dyslipidaemia in patients with different clinical variants of metabolic syndrome for optimization of diagnostics and development of modern approaches to their preventive maintenance and treatment.
The influence of degree of obesity and dynamics of weight on the level of lipid and glucose tolerance, activity of leptin, characteristics of 24-hour monitoring of arterial BP, variability of heart rate and left ventricular hypertrophy of myocardium in patients with metabolic syndrome is studied in view of sex-related features of its formation. The problems of occurrence and treatment of dyslipidemia and connected with it development of atherosclerosis on the background of hyperthyroidism, safety and efficiency of replacement therapy in patients with metabolic syndrome are investigated. Features of metabolic syndrome in woman in postmenopausal period and influence of estrogens deficiency on dyslipidemia and insulin resistance, effectiveness of antihypertensive and hypolipidemic treatment are studied. The results of many centre research of levels of total cholesterol in a network of regional lipids studies are analyzed. On the basis of obtained results the approaches to preventive maintenance and treatment of dyslipidemia in patients with metabolic syndrome are developed, taking into account features of clinical variants of its course.
In the department there are carried out: 24-hour monitoring of arterial pressure, Holter ECG-monitoring, Doppler echocardiography, veloergometry, modern radioisotope and biochemical study of levels of leptin, insulin, thyroid and sexual hormones.
On the basis of the department the express-laboratory is functioning determing in-patient and outpatient the levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose.
The department is the base of the State Pharmacological Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and approbates modern medicines for treatment of patients with cardiovascular diseases.
Since its foundation the department has published 72 scientific works, including 11 abroad, and one guideline.
