Scientific Director - Professor L.G. Voronkov

Department of Heart Failure
The department was founded in 1984.
The main directions of research are:
- the study of peculiarities in pathogenesis and course of chronic heart failure (CHF) in different clinical subgroups (CHF with persistent and decreased systolic function of the left ventricle, CHF due to ischemic heart disease, CHF in cardiomyopathy);
- study of the condition and clinical-prognostic importance of autonomic cardiac rhythm regulation during CHF;
- research and assessment of clinical-prognostic importance of systemic neuro-humoral, metabolic and immune impairments in patients with CHF;
- examination of condition of peripheral blood circulation, skeletal muscles in patients suffering CHF, assessment of physical training impact on the mechanism of CHF progress and clinical course;
- study into the causes and clinical-prognostic importance of ventricular arrhythmia in CHF;
- algorithm development for individual forecasting of CHF clinical course;
- examination of clinical and prognostic aspects of quality of life assessment for CHF patients;
- study of clinical pharmaco-dynamics and influence of modern pharmacological methods of its treatment on clinical course of CHF.
The department serves as the clinical base for approbation of medicines performed by the Pharmocological Committee of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
In the last 10 years scientists of the department published 318 scientific works, including 49 abroad, 5 monographs and textbooks, 7 guidelines, also we patented 10 inventions. Two doctors and 10 candidates of medical sciences (PhD) were prepared at the department.
